"Mythologies (2019-2023)"
Wall of the French Embassy
19 November – 19 December 2025
With Mythologies, Letizia Le Fur invites us to enter a universe that is both poetic and
sensitive, where omnipresent nature is constantly reinvented. Nourished by ancient tales
and driven by a quest for beauty, it considers photography not as a reflection of reality but as
a space where myth and creation merge in a shared search for meaning.
The cycle unfolds in three movements. The Origin evokes the first chaos: mineral
landscapes, sheer cliffs, telluric forces that recall the power and hostility of the world in its
beginnings. In The Golden Age, nature awakens and blossoms, unfurling colorful,
shimmering frescoes—a celebration of regained harmony. Finally, The Metamorphoses open
the realm of passage and transformation, where everything seems in motion, unstable, in the
making.
These photographs, worked like paintings, heighten colors and light until the gaze tips over
into another dimension. Nature appears sovereign, teeming—sometimes harsh, sometimes
radiant, always captivating.
Thus, Mythologies opens a breach into the imaginary. With a fictional flourish, Letizia Le Fur
diverts photography from its documentary function to make it a poetic space in which a
reflection on the present takes shape. These transfigured landscapes, where chaos,
harmony, and metamorphosis meet, resonate like a mirror held up to our times: an invitation
to rethink our relationship with nature, to question our anxieties, and to dream, still, of a
possible golden age.
Bio
Létizia Le Fur is a French photographer based in Paris. Initially trained as a painter at the
École des Beaux-Arts in Tours (1998), she soon turned to photography encouraged by artist
and professor Valérie Belin.
Her work, situated between reality and fiction, explores multiple representations of beauty.
Thanks to her knowledge of art history, she has developed a mastery of light and an
approach to color that are reminiscent of painting. By addressing political, ecological, and
social issues through beauty, she affirms joy as an act of resistance.
Recipient of the Paris Je t’aime x Photodays prize (2023–2024), the Grande Commande de
la BnF (2022), and the Leica/Alpine prize (2019), she was also nominated for the Prix
Niépce (2022). Her work has been widely exhibited and published.
In parallel with her artistic practice, Letizia Le Fur has been collaborating for over twenty
years with major brands (Van Cleef & Arpels, Air France, Belmond, Barrière, Ruinart,
Perrier-Jouët, Château Canon, etc.) and with the press (AD, The New York Times, Grazia,
Voyageurs du Monde, Les Échos, etc.).
She has been a Leica ambassador since 2019.
